The George Institute

The TRIDENT study is an investigator initiated study of The George Institute for Global Health. The Institute seeks to discover modifiable causes of major diseases and injuries, to identify effective and affordable prevention and treatment strategies, and to strengthen health systems for disease and injury control through:

  • Large-scale clinical, epidemiological and health services research projects
  • Evidence-based health policy development, implementation and evaluation
  • Capacity-building in epidemiology, clinical research, biostatistics and policy development
  • Partnerships with health authorities, academic institutions, governments, non-governmental organisations and multi-lateral agencies

Their focus is on:

  • Improving the health of disadvantaged populations worldwide
  • Better management of common chronic and critical conditions, such as heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes and stroke
  • Innovation to ensure the sustainability of healthcare services
  • New approaches to managing injury, frailty and disability
